At the end of Term One the Year 9 Outdoor Education students headed to the sunny shores of Lancelin for a night sleeping under the stars and a day of surfing.

Students used their outdoor survival skills, which they learnt throughout the term, to organise their meals and their shelter for the camp, demonstrating remarkable autonomy in each task they encountered. Thursday's classroom was the glorious Lancelin surf break with the Go Surf instructing crew, who with enthusiasm assisted the students to surf for four hours.

While all campers showed resourcefulness, independence, cooperation, camaraderie, problem solving and athleticism, I would like to make mention of a few stand out students. Firstly, Jak Swan went above and beyond when he picked up rubbish left by previous campers and helped out his classmates during a pack down. Secondly, Jedi Gonzales, for being king of the waves during the surfing session. Finally, Oliver Tough for winning the Camp Master Chef competition with a mouth-watering Korean dish.

The group of students who attended this expedition were outstanding. The leadership, respect for one another and their positive can do attitude really made this expedition such a success.
