On Tuesday, November 23, we will celebrate our Final Mass for Years 7, 8, 9, 10 and IEC students as a whole school community during Period 1 in the CASS. This Mass will have a Christmas theme and so we are already looking ahead to the end of our academic year and this special season on our Church’s calendar. Before Christmas, however, we have the season of Advent, which is a special time of preparation, hoping, praying and anticipating Emmanuel (“God-with-us”) and the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ. The First Sunday of Advent is on November 28 and at Mass the first of the candles in the Advent wreath will be lit to symbolise the beginning of this spiritual journey towards Christmas. May we remember Jesus as “the reason for the season” and those most in need of prayerful and practical support at this time of year. Let us pray for hope, peace, joy and love for all people.

Congratulations to our incoming Years 8-11 Student Leaders for 2022 who will be announced and presented with their leadership badges during our College Awards Ceremony on the evening of Wednesday, November 24. As part of this Ceremony, our College Chaplain, Fr Elias Kilzi, will bless the leadership badges before they are presented to our new Student Leaders. Our outgoing Head Boy and Head Girl, Patrick Rustean and Matilda Parry, will present the Aranmore Catholic College banner to our incoming Head Boy and Head Girl, Matthew O’Loughlin and Chelsea Te Whata, as a symbolic gesture of handing over leadership to our new Student Leaders. On Friday, November 26 our new Student Leaders will gather all together for the first time for some formation in leadership, and the opportunity to plan for their respective leadership roles and portfolios in 2022.

A final reminder about our annual Vinnies Christmas Appeal, which will conclude on Friday, November 26. Please refer to the poster that outlines what we have been asked to donate this year. Each year level has been asked to donate particular items, e.g. Year 8 students have been asked to donate Christmas cakes, fruit mince pies, long-life milk, custard and juice, which will be placed in hampers to distribute to those in need to help them celebrate Christmas this year. Donations can be brought to Form or the Front Office. Thank you very much for your support.
