Intensive English Centre
Aranmore Catholic College’s Intensive English Centre supports overseas students to develop their English language skills before they attend a mainstream Australian secondary school.
Typically, this means learning English skills to become fluent orally and in the field of academic writing.
Learning at the Centre includes studying General and Academic English as well as continuing learning in Mathematics and attending HASS, Science and Religious Education lessons. Students also participate in sporting activities and work on creative art projects such as making videos, e-books, magazines and creating various artworks.
When an IEC student has become a competent user of English and is at ease with their new way of life in Australia, they can choose to enter mainstream classes at Aranmore Catholic College, attend another secondary school, or apply for tertiary courses.
Aranmore Catholic College is the only Catholic secondary school in WA with an Intensive English Centre (IEC). The Centre is available to secondary school aged students. Majella Catholic Primary School Intensive English Centre caters for primary aged students.
