The Science department at Aranmore Catholic College attempts to provide each student with a sound background in science knowledge and skills. This allows them to enter adult life with the knowledge to make informed decisions in an increasingly Science dependent world.

To do this, the department thoroughly covers the lower school Science course as prescribed by the Australian National Curriculum. An attempt is also made to make Science lessons enjoyable so that Science is seen as a positive part of modern life and an area that might provide an enjoyable career in the future.

The Lower School Science years should give a solid framework on which to build Senior Secondary Science education. In Years 11 and 12, students are able to choose ATAR and Non-ATAR subjects.

The subjects Human Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Psychology are all offered at ATAR level. Human Biology and General Chemistry are offered at the general level. Finding qualified and experienced teachers to teach subjects such as Physics and Chemistry is often difficult. At Aranmore we are lucky to have a number of staff with extensive experience and qualifications in these areas.
