Congratulations to Sarah Ebbott who has spent the last week of Term One in Darwin, at the Netball Nationals, as a member of Western Australia's 17 & Under Netball team. She was joined by Aranmore teacher Miss Connie Wong, who is Assistant Coach to the state 19 & Under team.

Well done Sarah and Miss Wong!

Congratulations to Year Eight student Lauren Hodder who won a Gold Medal for High Jump in the State Athletics Championships recently. Lauren won the gold medal by jumping 150cm, which is a personal best.

Well done to Year Eight student Shannon May, who has been selected into the State U/14’s School Girls Soccer team. Shannon will be flying to Sydney later in the year to play in the National U/14’s Friendship Cup.

Well done to Year Ten student Jayson Fox, who has been selected to represent WA in the National U/17’s Beach Volleyball Championships after taking out the State U/17’s Beach Volleyball Title recently. Jayson is not only an accomplished beach volleyball player but is also a hard court volleyball player and has also been selected to play in the State Hard Court Volleyball team.

Well done to Year Eleven student Corey Tidey, who won four medals – one gold, one silver and two bronze -- in the recent State Surf Lifesaving Titles held at Scarborough Beach.

Congratulations to Year Ten student Calvin Buckle who recently won a scholarship with the Western Australian Symphony Orchestra playing the violin.

Originally from Derby, Calvin started playing the violin a number of years ago after noticing that hardly anyone played the violin in his home town! Calvin also plays in the College’s String Ensemble and Orchestra and lists Classical music and American Blue-Grass as his favourite type of music to play.

Congratulations to Year 11 student, Angus Hann, who is one of three WA boxers to be chosen to represent Australia in an international boxing tournament in England.

Angus, who took out the Australian cadet 60 kg title in Hobart earlier this year, was chosen for the six-man Australian team for being one of the best juniors in the nation during the last couple of years.

Congratulations to Kirby Bentley (Year 12) who has been selected for the Perth Orioles - WA's National Netball League team. We look forward to cheering her on in 2004!

Congratulations to one of our Class of 2003, Chelsea Stevens, who won the Fairest and Best Award for the entire 17 and Under (Division 3) State League in 2003.

Chelsea represented the Perth Bullets along with team mates Sheralee Angell and Jessie Busteed. The Award was announced on Friday night at the Annual WA Netball State League Ball. Well done Chelsea!


Congratulations to Jesse Phillips (Year Twelve) who has returned from the 10th Junior World Canoe Championships in Komatsu Japan. Jesse competed in two events and made the finals of both; finishing fifth in K4 500m and ninth in K2 1000m. He was very happy with his first attempt on the world stage and we are very proud of the fantastic effort and the results Jesse!


Nikita Wikaira (Year 12) was selected by the Minister for Women's Interests to represent Western Australia at the National Indigenous Women's Gathering held in Melbourne. The Gathering is a key component of the National Ministerial Conference for Women's interests and Nikita played a key role in finalising the National Plan for Indigenous Women. She was also selected as the National Indigenous Women's Gathering's delegate to present the final findings on Economic Development to the State Ministers.


Well done and congratulations to Sarah Leitch and Sarah Ebbott who were selected in the WA Schoolgirls’ Netball Team. The National Championships will be held in Perth at Joondalup Arena from the 11 to 17 August. The girls are pictured left showing off the new Aranmore competition Netball playing uniform. Both girls are team members of the Senior Touring Teams which will be competing in the Waverley International Schools' Netball Championships in Melbourne during July.


Kirby Bentley (Year Twelve) has been selected for the Australian 19 and Under Netball Squad. Her selection was announced at the end of the National Netball Championships in Brisbane where she represented WA. Kirby flies to Canberra in September to compete against England and South Africa. She is also participating in the Perth Orioles Training Program.


Michelle Ranieri (Year Ten) has been chosen in the Western Australia team to compete at the National Gymnastics Championships in Melbourne in May and June. It is her second time representing the State and she is now a Level 8. There are six Western Australians in the team at each level. Michelle will compete in four events: vault, beam, bars and floor and beam, which is her favourite event.
