CATHOLIC EDUCATION CARNIVALE
During the day many dynamic and visually stimulting displays are set up, combined with performances by Primary and Secondary students from many Catholic schools. The Carnival was held on Thursday 13 October and forty Aranmore students represented the College in the Official Opening Ceremony. Our students proudly carried the flags of the many nations represented at Aranmore and were led in by the Trinity College Pipes and Drums. It was a great opportunity for our students to be involved in this public event in the city. Congratulations to all our students who represented us so well.

| August 2005 (ONSITE Coordinator Paul Baker, HIA Business Manager/ The Dream Factory project will enable students to be engaged in any occupation within the housing industry, e.g. bricklaying, carpentry, tiling, plastering, etc. As students progress to Year 12 Graduation, they will gain a Certificate 1 or 2 in Building & Construction. On Graduation, they would move into employment in an apprenticeship in their chosen trade area. Throughout the whole process the Housing Industry Association will be providing mentors to the students involved. The H.I.A. sees this close association with each student as crucial to the program’s success and the successful transition of students from school to an apprenticeship. Clearly, the H.I.A. wants to make sure that students also enter an apprenticeship with much background information and the ability to be successful in an apprenticeship. Thirty students have been selected from well over double that number for the first intake. Three students from Aranmore are among the thirty. This initiative of the Onsite group, led by Mr Paul Baker, has already attracted interest Australia wide and other Housing Industry Associations are hoping to implement the program. I believe that our students are very fortunate to have this program available to them. There were BANGS, SCREAMS and POPS as the students learnt about solar energy, fuel, mining, motion and static electricity. They mined marble cakes, shook up oil and water and made dry ice rockets. And many had a hair-raising tale to tell. The most hair-raising of all were the explosions at the end by Mr Wilson! Aranmore Science students demonstrated all the activities and the Year Five students went back to their own schools armed with a lot of knowlege, a showbag and a solar power kit to set up in their own classrooms. Most importantly, science week at Aranmore encouraged the students to have a passion for science; something Aranmore is passionate about! You can see in the pictures below just some of the activities that made this year's Science Week the most ENERGETIC yet! Thank you to all our Primary School students, teachers and parents for creating such a BANG in 2005! Thanks also to our MAD scientist Mr Ian Wilson and the Science Department for working your magic once again!
