The Crucible Production

Aranmore presented a 2003 production of The Crucible on the 9-12 April. It featured our very talented Drama students including three cast members who were last year selected in the WA Youth Theatre Company.

On the Thursday evening, special guests in the audience were the cast members from the 1967 performance by St Mary's and CBC Leederville students. In that year they won the Catholic Schools Drama Festival.

Warren Long (back row 5th from right) who was named Best Actor in the Catholic Schools Performing Arts Festival in 1967, returned on the Friday to give the cast a talk of Inspiration before Friday's performance.

Current Principal of Aranmore Catholic College, Jim Elliott was also in the 1967 production and is pictured in the front.

Open Day

Hundreds of visitors toured our College during Open Day, Friday 4 April.

Aranmore's Student Councillors led groups around the grounds, telling the history of the College as well as current College programs..

After the tour visitors had the opportunity to sit in the marquee and have refreshments and listen to the College orchestra and ensembles performing and Year Eleven Drama students..

There were many other attractions: a Centenary photographic display of former students and memorabilia, an Outdoor Education survival display and a hands-on Mathematics workshop.

The Netball and Rugby programs had interactive classes in which the visitors could participate.

Building Bridges Breakfast

Aranmore's annual Building Bridges Breakfast was held in April to recognise the local community and businesses who support our College in various ways.

We were pleased to see Nick Catania and John Giorgi from the Town of Vincent, Ken Travers, who is our local Member of Parliament and the many OnSite employers and local business people having breakfast under the large marquee in the garden.

Staff and guests mingled while Aranmore's music students entertained everyone during breakfast.

It was a delighful way to start the day and a relaxed way to thank all the people who help and support Aranmore in any way.

Centenary Staff Sundowner

In early April, current staff welcomed former staff to the Centenary Staff Sundowner, with about 150 former staff attending.

This was a wonderful occasion and an opportunity to recognise the contribution former and current staff have made to the Primary School and the College over many years.

Of great significance was the large number of Sisters of Mercy and Christian Brothers who attended. It was a time for them to be able to renew acquaintances with many former staff, particularly as many of the nuns and brothers have been retired from teaching for some time.

Easter Assembly

On Holy Thursday, Aranmore students and staff saw the Year Twelve's re-enactment of the last days of Christ's life on earth.

Those who took part performed it very convincingly and it gave us all the opportunity to reflect on the true meaning of Easter.
