Using the Library | Library Resources | Borrowing | Library Cards | Returning Loans | Overdue Books | Reserving a Book | Computer Use | Internet Licences | Library Rules At Lunchtime: During Classtime: Students may borrow books, magazines, newspapers and audio tapes. Video tapes, VCRs and other audio-visual equipment is available for loan to teachers only. The library has a number of computers available for research of electronic resources. Reference encyclopedias are available on CD-ROM via a networked system, and other stand-alone CD-ROMs are also available for use. Students may borrow up to 6 items at a time, unless they have overdue loans. After selecting your items, take them to the circulation desk, together with your library card. The library staff will then check-out the book in your name. The book is stamped with the date it is to be returned. Library books should be kept in a safe place at home, so students can always check on the date they are due back.

Place books carefully through the returns slot in the circulation desk near the entrance to the library, on or before the date they are due back. Do not put them anywhere else in the library unless you are told to do so by a member of staff. You will be issued with a student borrowing card that enables you to take out books on loan. Never lend this card to anybody, as YOU are the person responsible for ALL books borrowed on this card. If you lose your card, please notify the library staff IMMEDIATELY. You will need to buy a new card straight away. The charge for a replacement card is $2.50. If you lose a book, please let library staff know as soon as possible. The current replacement cost must be paid by you. It is your responsibility to make sure you return or renew all library resources on time. If you have a late book, a notice will be sent to your form teacher. Students who are on this list must return or renew their overdues immediately. When students have their name on this list they are unable to borrow until the overdue resources are returned. If you do not return them after receiving overdue notices in class for 4 weeks, your parents/guardian will be notified by the Librarian. Student use of computers during lunchtime will also be suspended until all overdue items are returned. If a book you require is unavailable, you may reserve it using the OPAC. Please ask the library staff to show you how to do this. If you have any requests to make, such as new books or magazines, then the library staff will be pleased to hear them. As the computers are constantly in demand, it is essential to reserve a terminal in advance. Bookings can be made at the circulation desk during lunchtime on the day of use. All students are required to obtain an Internet User Licence before unsupervised use of the Internet is allowed. A lunchtime training session with the Teacher Librarian, Ms Harbord, can be booked at the circulation desk. See also the College's Internet Acceptable Use Agreement.
Remember: Everyone has the right to work undisturbed! |
