ARANMORE STRATEGIC PLAN 2004-2008

Dear Parents & Guardians

During 2003, we celebrated the Centenary of education on the site of Aranmore Catholic College. In the midst of celebrating this milestone we were also looking ahead to the future. There had been some discussion at Board level of setting in motion the idea of formulating a new Strategic Plan as the previous plan had been formulated in 1995. It seemed timely that a new plan should be in place as we begin our second hundred years of education at Aranmore.

Strategic planning provides a formal opportunity for the Aranmore community to reflect upon its mission, current practices and the learning needs of students. The outcome of the process is the formulation of a five year Strategic Plan that identifies future directions and priorities for the School.

This process has involved wide ranging consultation that generated strong interest from parents (including a written questionnaire), Aranmore Catholic Primary School parents, senior students, student councillors, staff and the College Board. Our appreciation is extended to all of these participants for the energy and enthusiasm they brought to the consultation process and to Dr Liz Pattison who facilitated the process.

Having taken time to reflect on what has been and what we have at Aranmore, we have confidence that we can build on our one hundred years of tradition and embark on a systematic plan that will ensure the continuance of the great educational achievements of the past. The role of the Strategic Plan is to provide an organised approach to the growth and strengthening of Aranmore Catholic College over the next five years. The Plan will be implemented through action plans and projects developed by the School Leadership Team with regular monitoring and reporting to the College Board.

The Board believes the Plan accurately reflects the views of the College community and charts a course for improvement that is firmly based on those views.

We hope that you will take the time to read the Strategic Plan 2004-2008. It is an important document for the whole College community.
